Restaurante La Gravalosa, settled in the heart of Comillas, offers a robust Mediterranean and Spanish dining experience that leans into generous portions and traditional flavors. The setting is straightforward and welcoming, with a casual vibe that fits well in this small Cantabrian town known for its coastal charm and historic sites.

If you arrive hungry and ready to explore local cuisine, La Gravalosa delivers hearty dishes like Paella de Marisco and Parrillada de Marisco, as well as regional staples such as Cocido Montañés. The menu balances seafood and land options, with reliable crowd-pleasers like entrecot with potatoes and pimientos, homemade croquetas, and fresh gambones a la plancha. This mix reflects the resilience of northern Spanish cooking, blending sea and mountain influences with almost home-cooked appeal.

The atmosphere doesn’t aim for fancy or trendy; instead, the focus is on satisfying, plentiful meals that locals and visitors alike appreciate after a day spent strolling Comillas’ streets and beaches. Service tends to be friendly and efficient enough, though busy times might slow things down slightly, especially when large groups arrive. Prices remain reasonable considering the quantity and the generous pours of wine and beer that accompany meals here.

For those who enjoy dining out without fuss but with an authentic local rhythm, this place suits well for lunch or early dinner, especially when you want to sit back and relish substantial portions without breaking the bank. It’s a spot where families or groups of friends hunting for a casual but substantial meal will feel right at home, and where fresh, regional seafood is showcased without unnecessary frills.

Overall, Restaurante La Gravalosa feels like a reliable neighborhood table in Comillas—unpretentious, focused on filling plates well, and rooted in the everyday rhythms of Cantabrian coastal life.

Good food - and if you’re hungry, this is your place. Food is abundant, and pretty well made. However, a bit slow, and quality can be uneven.

Best we have visited up to now. Full bottle of wine instead of just a glass as with others, and food excellent and plentiful.
